Gayatri Pande is an Analyst at Climate Policy Initiative, based in New Delhi, India, where she works at the intersection of climate finance, market transformation, and financial sector innovation. Her work focuses on accelerating green investment in India by supporting financial institutions, MSMEs, and policymakers through data-driven analysis and capacity building to address institutional gaps. She contributes to the Greening Indian Financial Systems (GIFS) program, which aims to strengthen the capacity of financial institutions and enable a greater flow of capital toward MSMEs and other priority sectors.
Her research covers key areas of the energy transition, where she applies quantitative tools such as cost of capital estimation, risk assessment, financial modelling, and market analysis to support investor readiness in emerging technologies, including floating solar, offshore wind, battery storage, and pumped hydro. She also helps design and facilitate peer exchanges and capacity-building initiatives that assist financial institutions in identifying barriers to green lending and adopting practical solutions that reduce transaction costs and improve MSME access to finance.
Before joining CPI, Gayatri worked at NITI Aayog, where she contributed to MSME decarbonization pathways, climate physical risk assessments, and Ease of Doing Business reforms. Prior to that, she worked in development consulting, helping design blended finance pathways to de-risk electric two and three-wheeler adoption in India.
Gayatri holds a Master’s degree in Environment and Resource Economics from the Australian National University, where she studied as an Australia Awards Scholar, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi.
