Chris Grant is a Senior Manager based in CPI’s San Francisco office. He provides oversight of research methodologies and guides research processes, knowledge management, and data analytics for CPI’s work on the effectiveness of climate finance flows. Chris has more than a decade of experience in financial policy, risk, and analysis from the local to the global scale.

Prior to joining Climate Policy Initiative, Chris Grant was a senior risk specialist in the banking supervision department of the San Francisco Fed, advising Fed leadership on regional economic and banking conditions. At the SF Fed, Chris designed risk assessment methodologies and built analytical tools, including an innovative geospatial analysis of bank wildfire risk. He also presented risk assessments to executive-level audiences, internally and externally. Prior to his time at the Fed, Chris rated municipal bonds at S&P Global Ratings and was an international economist at the U.S. Treasury. At the Treasury, Chris advised White House and departmental leadership on international financial policy, and represented the United States in bilateral negotiations and at multilateral fora, including the Financial Stability Board, IMF, and World Bank.

Chris has master’s degrees in public administration and international relations from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and a B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.
