Sustainable Banking Hub
Advancing Sustainable Finance Across Indonesia’s Financial Sector
Sustainable Banking Hub (SBH) is a knowledge and networking hub designed to accelerate the shift in Indonesia’s financial sector towards more sustainable practices and support the sector’s critical role in financing Indonesia’s energy transition and sustainable development.
SBH is a flagship program by Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) Indonesia dedicated to advancing sustainable finance literacy and inclusion in Indonesia. Established in response to the growing risks climate change poses to the financial sector, SBH supports financial institutions in navigating the transition toward a greener economy while unlocking emerging opportunities in sustainable finance.
The program also addresses the increasing need for capacity building amid rapidly evolving financial architecture reforms, equipping stakeholders with the knowledge and tools needed to adapt and thrive in a changing landscape.
SBH Workstreams

Sustainable Banking Hub advances sustainable finance in Indonesia through three main workstreams: Research and Analysis, Safe Space for Discussion, and Market-based Solutions. Together, these pillars support the financial sector in strengthening its role in Indonesia’s energy transition and sustainable development agenda.
Research and Analysis
SBH develops research and strategic insights to help financial institutions navigate the evolving landscape of sustainable finance. This includes work on sustainable finance instruments, sustainable finance taxonomy, governance frameworks, sustainability reporting and compliance, as well as climate-related financial risks and opportunities.
Safe Space for Discussion
SBH serves as a neutral platform for dialogue and collaboration among financial institutions, regulators, industry partners, and global initiatives. Through workshops, roundtables, and strategic engagements, SBH facilitates knowledge exchange, peer learning, and cross-sector collaboration on emerging sustainable finance challenges and opportunities. This workstream helps bridge perspectives across stakeholders and encourages collective action.
Market-based Solutions
SBH supports the development and implementation of practical solutions that enable the financial sector to accelerate sustainable finance adoption. This includes advancing ESG financing instruments, sustainability and climate-related financial disclosures, climate risk stress testing, and financing strategies for priority sectors such as renewable energy and energy efficiency. By promoting market-driven approaches, SBH helps strengthen the financial sector’s capacity to support Indonesia’s low-carbon transition.
