As India’s population and energy demand grow rapidly, distributed renewable energy and specifically distributed solar and storage is becoming increasingly important to enable access to clean, affordable, and reliable electricity to the country’s vastly underserved population. And currently, India falls short of its distributed solar deployment target of 40 GW by 2022. In this podcast, Dhruba Purkayastha, CPI’s India Director discusses the current state of distributed solar in India with Yash Kashyap and Varun Duggal from Energizing Transitions and shares his views on the development of the sector so far and the barriers to its growth in the future.
