Vienna, 04 March 2026 – Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is pleased to announce the opening of its newest office, in Vienna, Austria.
Austria is a key climate finance and policy hub for Europe and internationally. It is one of the four UN major office locations and hosts key international finance, trade, and development organizations such as the World Bank, UN Industrial Development Organization, and SE4All. Austria itself is a global leader in climate efforts, even amongst EU peers, serving as a model for pragmatic transition efforts.
“The EU is critical for sustaining ambition on climate action, both amongst its members and internationally, especially in its support of sustainable economic development in emerging markets,” stated CPI’s Chief Executive Officer, Barbara Buchner. “Some of our most important and long-standing partners are here, so being physically present in the EU helps strengthen existing work and collaborations.”
As part of launching this office, Climate Policy Initiative Austria has appointed Harald Hirschhofer and Norbert Gorißen as board members.
CPI is a global analysis and advisory organization that works at the critical intersection of climate finance and policy. With a team of experts across eight international offices, including a strong presence in emerging markets and developing economies, CPI supports governments, financial institutions, and businesses to design and implement strategies that drive economic growth while addressing climate change.
