Joe Leavenworth Bakali is the Catalytic Climate Finance Facility Global Manager at CPI, based in San Francisco. Joe is responsible for CPI’s overall management of the Facility, in partnership with Convergence Blended Finance. His role spans strategy, investment analysis, implementation of acceleration support, fundraising, and stakeholder management.

Prior to joining CPI, Joe managed a portfolio of global blended finance projects for the USAID INVEST initiative. He began his career in private investment roles covering both developed and emerging markets, initially at a US-based institutional investment firm and then at an impact venture capital fund making early-stage investments across East Africa and India. Prior to joining INVEST, he worked in DAI Global’s Sustainable Business Group advising multinational corporations and development finance institutions on supply chain development and innovative finance across emerging markets.

Joe holds a MSc in International Political Economy with Distinction from the London School of Economics and a BA in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College.
