The former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is partnering with the Prime Minister of Fiji and COP23 President Frank Bainimarama to convene a meeting that brings together key actors and thought leaders to focus on the impact of sub-national financial systems, and to consider how joint public/private financing can support low-carbon and climate resilient infrastructure in developing nations.

This meeting is part of the Talanoa Dialogue, a global process requested by Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to take stock of collective efforts to reduce emissions and build greater resilience, in line with the long-term goal of the Paris Agreement.

This event builds on the finance-themed Talanoa Dialogue held during Governor Brown’s Global Climate Action Summit last month, which was hosted by the COP23 Presidency, Climate Policy Initiative, and The Rockefeller Foundation.Recommendations from this event will be presented to political leaders at COP24 in Katowice, Poland in December.

The dialogue will be moderated by Climate Policy Initiative’s Executive Director Barbara Buchner. It will be chaired by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
