Super Pollutants

Super pollutants—methane, black carbon, tropospheric ozone, and hydrofluorocarbons among others—have a powerful impact on the climate, driving near-term warming far more intensely than carbon dioxide. Their potency means urgent abatement of super pollutants is a critical lever for achieving global climate goals. Due to its low cost and availability of existing technologies, controlling super pollutants is a unique opportunity for decision-makers to deliver immediate impact.

CPI engages across sectors and geographies to identify cost-effective measures, mobilize finance, and design enabling policies that can deliver deep reductions in methane and other super pollutants while supporting long-term climate and development goals.
