Meeting of the Urban Risk and Resilience Leaders

Barbara Buchner will participate in the World Economic Forum’s Meeting of the Urban Risk & Resilience Leaders during the Sustainable Development Impact Meetings 2026 in New York.
Barbara will provide an opening perspective on emerging investment trends and capital flows shaping the future of resilient urban systems, helping ground a broader discussion on how cities, financial institutions, insurers, development banks, and infrastructure actors can work together to make resilience investable at scale. The invitation-only dialogue will bring together approximately 25 senior leaders to explore practical models, market innovations, and partnerships that can accelerate resilience investment and implementation.

By bringing together senior representatives from across the responsible investment ecosystem, PRI Investor Day will focus on how institutional investors are approaching the practical, financially relevant drivers of long‑term performance, including ways to translate high‑level commitments into measurable actions across portfolios and the real economy. Participants will gain insights into emerging best practices in stewardship, policy engagement, capital allocation, value creation, and system-level approaches that are shaping responsible investment.
CPI Senior Director of Global Programs, Bella Tonkonogy, will speak on a session titled, “The Long View: Investor Leadership When the Playbook Is Changing,” at 10:20am.
Mobilizing Capital for Latin America and the Caribbean: Closing the Finance Gap through De-risking and Blended Finance

During New York Climate Week, Climate Policy Initiative will co-host a roundtable at Fordham University Lincoln Center as part of the Sustainable Investment Forum, alongside GFANZ, UNEP FI, ANBIMA, and CNSeg.
The session will open with the launch of CPI’s Landscape of Climate Finance in Latin America and the Caribbean, the first comprehensive stocktake of public and private climate finance flows across the region.
Building on the report’s findings, the roundtable will bring together leaders from across the financial sector to explore how de-risking and blended finance instruments can help bridge the region’s climate finance gap and mobilize investment at greater scale.
Solutions Dialogue on Climate Finance

CPI CEO Barbara Buchner will co-moderate a high-level Solutions Dialogue on climate finance alongside Amar Bhattacharya, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, during the United Nations General Assembly.
Convened by the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Team, the dialogue will bring together leaders from governments, multilateral development banks, climate funds, development finance institutions, private finance, philanthropy, and other key institutions. Discussions will focus on how the global climate and development finance system can work more effectively to scale affordable finance, mobilize private investment, strengthen country-led action, and accelerate implementation of national climate and development priorities.
High-Level Roundtable: From Country Demand to Investable Resilience

This invite-only, senior-level roundtable, co-hosted by Climate Policy Initiative and the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), will bring together leaders from the public, private, and philanthropic sectors to discuss how to translate growing country demand for climate resilience into investable opportunities. The discussion will focus on strengthening project pipelines, mobilizing private capital, and using catalytic finance to help move resilience priorities toward implementation.
GARI Working Group Meeting

Hosted by the Global Adaptation & Resilience Investment Working Group (GARI), this New York Climate Week event will bring together investors and climate finance leaders for a practical discussion on mobilizing private investment for climate adaptation and resilience. The session will explore the state of the resilience investment market, lessons from investors putting capital to work, and the actions needed to scale investment in adaptation and resilience.
CPI CEO Barbara Buchner will speak at this event alongside representatives from GARI, the Global Environment Facility, Mercy Corps, BlackRock, Autodesk Foundation, McKinsey, and RBC Capital Markets.
The Missing Pipeline: Building a Market of Investable Water Projects

Scaling Climate Finance for Nature: What Works in Practice

The discussion will focus on how catalytic capital, technical assistance, and innovative financial approaches can help scale investment in nature-based solutions, drawing on lessons from initiatives including the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, the Catalytic Climate Finance Facility, and Brazil’s Nature Investment Lab.

Global Capacity Building Coalition Accelerator
