ABOUT THE CITIES CLIMATE FINANCE LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE
Trillions of dollars will be required to help cities build the low-emissions, resilient infrastructure necessary to combat and react to climate change. The Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA) is the only multi-level and multi-stakeholder coalition aimed at closing the investment gap for urban subnational climate projects and infrastructure worldwide.
CCFLA was launched at the United Nations Secretary General’s Climate Summit in September 2014 and renewed at the United Nations Secretary General’s Climate Summit in September 2019, with the Secretariat held by CPI from this point onwards.
Today, CCFLA has over 80 members committed to deploying finance for city-level climate action at scale by 2030. Its members represent many of the world’s largest city and subnational networks (C40, ICLEI, UCLG, GCOM, among others), major public and private financial institutions (World Bank, EBRD, KFW, among others), governments, and international and research organizations.
CCFLA engages its members in knowledge, collaboration, and advocacy activities aiming to help close the urban climate finance gap. More specifically:
- Knowledge: CCFLA produces practical knowledge products that support members to advance solutions to close the urban climate finance gap.
- Collaboration: CCFLA convenes members to foster connections and cooperation with the goal of scaling investment in urban climate infrastructure.
- Policy Engagement: CCFLA uses its expertise to inform international discussions and amplify messages from our members at important events and forums.
Over the past five years, CPI’s work in the urban and urban infrastructure sectors through CCFLA has experienced significant growth. As part of our key priorities, and to add to our long-term focus on tracking urban climate finance and project preparation, over the past year we have also launched new workstreams on urban adaptation and resilience finance, private sector, and public finance and enabling environments, aimed at catalysing investment in urban climate action.
To ensure the success of these endeavours, we are seeking an intern who can support the CCFLA Secretariat team in delivering research, stakeholder engagement and operational activities. The intern will contribute to knowledge products, assist in coordination with CCFLA members, and support preparation of events and policy engagement activities.
