Position Summary
We are seeking a communications associate to support CPI’s growing Indonesia office. You will be responsible for leveraging a broad range of communications tools and skills to ensure CPI’s expertise is visible and helps provide actionable guidance to, decision makers at the highest levels in government, finance, philanthropy, and other stakeholders who share our goal of accelerating finance for Indonesia’s transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy.
Candidates should have a strong background and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance and just energy transition, as well as dedication to CPI’s mission and impact, both in Indonesia and globally.
You will be an essential member of our Indonesia program and report to a Senior Communications Associate based in Jakarta. You will also be part of our global communications team, working with colleagues across all CPI offices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following and other duties as assigned:
- Assist in developing and carrying out integrated, external communications strategies that support the overall program goals,
are well-tailored to reach the intended audience, and have measurable KPIs. - Assist in managing the communications calendar and timelines for Indonesia programs, publications, and events, including to communicate deadlines and expectations clearly with analysts, leadership, communications team members, and external stakeholders
- Strategize, manage, and execute program events throughout the year. This includes designing events, developing agendas and materials, managing invites and outreach to stakeholders, maintaining internal communications and coordination across offices and programs, creating and providing guidance on event budgets, and executing post-event strategies to ensure a strong ROI for events.
- Assist in coordinating speaking opportunities for the analyst team, including developing talking points for senior leadership at high-level events
- Generate visibility and engagement for various Indonesia programs by creating and editing materials such as presentations, pitch decks, social media content, newsletters, podcast promotions, and other types of communication materials targeted at policymakers, financial professionals, and academia
among other stakeholders. - Curate and update contents on CPI Indonesia webpages and social media; ensure content is shareable, search-friendly, and allows for a great user experience.
- Develop media pitches and carry out outreach efforts; place stories in top-tier business, finance, and industry media channels; support the production of press materials and help develop story angles that provide value to journalists; monitor and track press coverage; identify relevant journalists and build relationships with them.
- Help measure and assess comms KPIs; rely on analytics to understand causality and drivers of indicators; use experimentation to improve communications processes and effectiveness.
- Contribute to developing and maintaining a knowledge base of program reference materials and information for CPI staff, including file and wiki management.
Qualifications and Competencies
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, policy, economics, international development, or related field or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of progressive experience or demonstrable equivalent skills in communications, public affairs, journalism, or a related field
- Outstanding organizational, project management, and prioritization skills, ability to manage multiple deliverables, and polished, diplomatic interface with internal and external stakeholders to overcome barriers, meet deadlines and achieve project goals
- Advanced English fluency, especially with writing and editing skills (high proficiency with technical and business content), with the ability to restructure as well as copyedit.
- Experience creating engaging content in various formats – web, print publications, presentations, press releases, and social media.
- Ability to turn economics and finance
technical information into accessible insights for investors, policymakers, and other stakeholders - Experience in event management and managing stakeholder relationships
- Experience in developing presentations and guiding colleagues in creating and delivering engaging presentations
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships in a cross-cultural, global working environment
- Independent worker and strategic thinker who learns quickly and can successfully navigate unchartered territory
with a solutions-oriented approach under pressure and on tight deadlines - Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel are heavily used)
Desirable
- Experience with media outreach, public relations, and stakeholder management. Experience with environmental and financial media.
- Experience with social media and online content management systems, including WordPress, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, or equivalents.
- Experience with Airtable or CRM systems.
Location and Compensation
CPI is hiring for a full-time position, open immediately. We are seeking someone
based in Jakarta but open to other locations in Indonesia for outstanding candidates who can travel to Jakarta on a regular basis. The position may require occasional travel.
CPI offers competitive compensation and benefits package. Compensation will be commensurate with the demonstrated experience and skills.
