Monika Chakraborty is a Senior Analyst at CPI’s Delhi office, where she examines the current state of financing and implementation of sustainable agriculture at the sub-national level, focusing on opportunities and gaps across states. She also worked as a consultant with Climate Policy Initiative India for two years, where she led the work on mobilizing sustainable finance in India for methane abatement.

Before joining CPI, Monika accumulated over five years of experience as a climate change specialist. She holds a Master of Science in Climate Science and Policy from The Energy Resources Institute – SAS, Delhi. With a strong background in GHG accounting and inventorization, methane emissions, policy analysis, and climate action planning, she has been instrumental in formulating comprehensive climate action plans at the sub-national level, aligning strategies to address GHG emissions and promote sustainable development. She has also worked on mitigating short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) in India, where she focused on estimating methane emissions and providing targeted recommendations for methane abatement. Monika also played a key role in developing the GHG Platform India, Phase IV portal, which is designed to enhance the reporting and monitoring of GHG emissions.

Outside of work, Monika is a Kathak dancer, an avid reader, and an enthusiastic home cook who loves experimenting in the kitchen.
