Annual Meeting of the Climate & Clean Air Coalition

Monday, October 12

Climate Policy Initiative will participate in the Climate & Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) Annual Meeting in Bangkok, which will bring together governments, development finance institutions, technical experts, philanthropy, civil society and the private sector to advance action on methane and other super pollutants.

This year’s meeting will focus on finance to scale implementation of super pollutant mitigation solutions, with discussions on how to strengthen investment, mobilize capital and accelerate implementation ahead of COP31. CPI CEO Barbara Buchner and Pedro de Aragão Fernandes will participate in the discussions, sharing insights from CPI’s work tracking climate and methane finance and on the role of financial institutions in scaling action.

Xingu Finance Talks Annual High-Level Roundtable

Climate Policy Initiative will participate in the inaugural Xingu Finance Talks Annual High-Level Roundtable, convened by the COP30 Presidency under the Veredas Dialogue. The roundtable will bring together governments and stakeholders from across the international financial system, including financial institutions, the private sector and academia, to explore practical solutions for aligning finance flows with the goals of the Paris Agreement. The discussion will focus in particular on expanding fiscal space for climate investment and reducing the cost of capital through risk sharing and guarantees, with the outcomes intended to inform the continued work of the Veredas Dialogue and the incoming COP31 Presidency.

Exploring the Role of MDBs in Methane Abatement Finance 

Wednesday, October 14; 12:30 – 2:30pm

CPI and the Global Methane Hub will convene a private roundtable during the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group, bringing together senior leaders from multilateral, regional and public development banks to explore how development finance can help accelerate methane abatement.

The discussion will focus on the role of MDBs in integrating methane into investment and lending decisions, strengthening project pipelines, and using financial instruments such as guarantees and blended finance to mobilize greater investment in methane abatement across the energy, agriculture and waste sectors.
