CPI organizes the San Giorgio Group, which convenes global leaders from government, business, and financial institutions to grapple with the most consequential challenges and opportunities in climate and sustainable finance. Established in collaboration with the World Bank Group, China Light & Power, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the SGG has convened 12 times since 2010.

Focus of the San Giorgio Group

Effective climate finance is critical to the success of sustainable, resilient development. However, significant challenges remain. Overcoming these barriers requires disciplined prioritization and greater speed. Therefore, recent SGG meetings have focused on:

Aligning institutions, with a strong emphasis on system coherence;

Deploying capital more efficiently and effectively, with a concerted effort on actions that create systemic transformation over incremental interventions; and

Delivering results at the country level, and how to center efforts on real-world impact for people.
