A Critical Cross-Sector Dialogue to Re-Strategize Food Businesses

The 75th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 75), to be held between 15 and 30 September at a time of great disruption for the world, intends to emphasize even more the need for cooperation across borders, sectors and generations to determine how fast the world recovers, whether we achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and how well we handle pressing challenges.

The high-level General Debate will open on 22 September and on the same day the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition Foundation (BCFN), the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment (CCSI), and the Santa Chiara Lab – University of Siena (SCL), will launch thenew Report of the Fixing the Business of Food initiative, aimed to present solutions to support the private sector in the transition towards sustainable agri-food systems.

Actually, businesses can strongly contribute to more sustainable, equitable and secure food systems and investors are increasingly showing interest to companies in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on climate change.

On September 22, from 1.00 to 3.00 p.m. EST – 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. CEST, the online event “Fixing the Business of Food – A Critical Cross-Sector Dialogue to Re-Strategize Food Businesses” hosted by the Barilla Center for Food & Nutrition will be held to promote a global debate on the evidence for transformation. Representatives from business, finance, institutions and academia will further underline the importance of a shared commitment of all actors to reset the current paradigms.
