Climate Policy Initiative’s Dr Dhruba Purkayastha, Director of USICEF, will speak on distributed renewable energy on Wednesday, July 29th at 4pm IST in a webinar that will provide insights into the main risks and critical  interventions that are essential to the financing of energy transition in India.

India’s energy transition vision is grounded in its reach towards 450 GW of renewable energy by 2030. These ambitions rely on the adequate financing or refinancing of this transition. The sole cost of setting up the generation capacity stands at a hefty USD 200 billion. This generation capacity will require the support of an upgraded, equally capital intensive grid intergration infrastructure. The current alternatives to financing are not viable and it will be a challenge to meet the demands for the creation and upgradation of this large-scale infrastructural operation.

Speakers include Sharmila Chavaly, Principal Financial Advisor of the Northern Railway, Dr Rathin Roy, Director of NIPFP, Dr Dhruba Purkayastha, Director of USICEF, Anita Marangoly George, Executive Vice-President and Head of Strategic Partnerships of Growth Markets CDPQ India, Naveen Khandelwal, Chief investment and Strategy Officer of Hero Future Energies and Vaibhav Pratap Singh, Senior Analyst at CEEW-CEF.
