Sibusiso Gwebityala is a Senior Analyst at Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), where he supports the delivery of CPI’s strategic priorities through research, analysis, and advisory work focused on strengthening climate finance systems. He primarily contributes to the Climate Finance Tracking workstream, supporting the tracking of global climate finance flows, assessing alignment with low-carbon and climate-resilient development goals, and identifying key financing gaps across regions and sectors.

In his role, Sibusiso leads components of research and advisory engagements, contributes to research design and quantitative data analysis, and supports the synthesis and communication of insights to a diverse range of stakeholders. He also manages relationships with clients and partners and contributes to team leadership and mentoring, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and international partners across geographies.

Prior to joining CPI, Sibusiso accumulated over eight years of experience in financial sector in research, investment analysis, and portfolio strategy. He has held roles at leading institutions including S&P Global Market Intelligence as Senior Associate, Sanlam Investments as an Investment Client research Analyst, and Old Mutual Investment Group as an Investment Analyst. His work focused on market and investment analysis, capital flows, portfolio performance, and applied quantitative research across global and South African markets. He has also served as an Investment and Risk Lecturer at Milpark Education, contributing to the development of future finance professionals.

Sibusiso holds a Master of Commerce in Finance and Investments, an Honours degree in Finance and Investments, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and Investments, and has completed a financial modeling certification.
