The New Collective Quantified Goal: Creating business cases for private finance

The NCQG decision adopted in Baku and the resulting Baku-to-Belém Roadmap call for a 15 to 18-fold increase in private sector investment in climate finance in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) by 2035. Achieving this goal will depend not only on improving the investment climate in EMDEs, but also on establishing a joint strategy and clear division of roles between public and private sector financiers. This discussion will explore successful examples of collaboration through blended finance, examine persistent structural barriers to scaling such efforts, and present concrete proposals for overcoming these challenges.
