Domestic sources accounted for <strong>80% of total flows. <\/strong>While this is still short of the estimated <strong>USD 4 trillion needed annually by 2030 for EMDEs<\/strong>, the report highlights how EMDEs are utilizing key levers\u2014coherent policies, household spending, among others\u2014to boost climate investment that spurs economic development, creates jobs, and supports other policy outcomes like expanding energy access and improving health outcomes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEmerging economies are key players for global progress with an unprecedented opportunity for investment and development,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatepolicyinitiative.org\/people\/barbara-buchner\/\">Dr. <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatepolicyinitiative.org\/people\/barbara-buchner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Barbara Buchner<\/a>, CPI\u2019s Global Managing Director. \u201cWith COP30 in Brazil on the horizon, these economies are showing how domestic policy alignment and strategic international support can work together to achieve transformational change.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key findings<\/h4>\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW28348047 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW28348047 BCX8\"> exceeded USD 1 trillion in 2023, with China accounting for USD 685 billion (64%).<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW28348047 <\/span><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW220325408 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW220325408 BCX8\">P<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW220325408 BCX8\">ublic institutions<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW220325408 BCX8\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"auto\"> <span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW220325408 BCX8\">were the largest source<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW220325408 BCX8\"> of international climate finance<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun
