Meghan Mertyris is an Operations Associate at Climate Policy Initiative, based in Washington, D.C. Meghan oversees the office’s day-to-day operations, provides administrative support, and executes successful events. Her expertise lies in community-based research, climate disasters, and mitigation.
Before she joined CPI, Meghan worked as a community organizer at the New Jersey Organizing Project (NJOP) and the New Jersey Resource Project (NJRP). She built and mobilized a base of over 1,000 people impacted by Hurricane Ida from all different parts of New Jersey to join NJOP and NJRP’s campaign team and advocate for the passage of Hurricane Ida legislative and administrative solutions. As a result of her organizing efforts, the state of New Jersey is receiving an additional $149 million in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Funds (CDBG-DR funds). She won the New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management’s (NJAFM) Community Outreach award for her work with directly impacted disaster survivors.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government, as well as a Master’s in Public Administration from American University. She also holds a certificate in Community-Based Research.
