San Francisco, 10 March 2025 \u2013 <\/strong>The Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance<\/a> (the Lab) selected nine new financial solutions for its annual cohort. These mechanisms aim to drive climate investments in emerging markets, supporting sustainable development, decarbonization, and climate resilience.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiatives will undergo seven months of stress testing, receiving technical support and guidance from experts within the Lab’s extensive network of public and private investors. After that, they are eligible for grant funding of up to USD 250,000 to move from design to implementation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Lab\u2019s 2025 cohort emphasizes the growing opportunities for private investment to support entrepreneurs who are tackling the climate crisis,\u201d said Barbara Buchner<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>CPI\u2019s Global Managing Director<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPrivate capital is essential for driving scalable solutions that can help address the worsening impacts of climate change, particularly in the world\u2019s most vulnerable communities bearing the brunt of devastating wildfires, storms, floods, and drought,\u201d she added.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the Lab enters its second decade, its mission of promoting financial inclusion and investment capacities for prosperity in an ever-evolving socio-economic space is picking up pace.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, it has launched 78 new climate finance solutions, collectively mobilizing USD 4.2 billion of public and private finance for emerging markets.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selected ideas <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carbon Neobank<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(Melanin Kapital)<\/em> <\/strong>helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa to unlock access to affordable finance through carbon credits to facilitate a green transition.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Equity Opportunity Fund<\/strong><\/a> (Meliquina Partners)<\/em> operates in low-income rural communities across Latin America to scale up renewable energy projects and transform practices to benefit indigenous groups.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green Economy Fund<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(Green Artha) <\/em>is a structured equity tool that invests in first-of-its-kind climate technologies, providing capital to enterprises for demonstration projects that future-proof growth.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

IREN AGRI<\/strong><\/a> (Ksapa and Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale)<\/em> sets out to accelerate transition and financial inclusion across agricultural commodity chains in West Africa. It fosters sustainability, social equity, and climate resilience at scale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parametric Insurance and Trust Fund for P\u00e1ramos<\/strong><\/a> (Strata Advisors) <\/em>provides rapid funding for early response and long-term resilience building to manage damage and assist in the recovery from wildfires in Colombia’s P\u00e1ramos ecosystems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philippines Smallholder Agri-Fishery Resilience and Regeneration Fund<\/strong><\/a> (Mayani)<\/em> finances climate-smart agriculture and aquaculture projects. The Fund boosts rural incomes and access to affordable fresh produce for households and big businesses.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Price Risk Facility<\/strong><\/a> (Agtuall)<\/em> addresses the challenge of price volatility in agriculture, which significantly impacts the financial stability of smallholder farmers and agribusinesses under pressure to limit post-harvest losses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Seeded Initiative<\/strong><\/a> (Silva, Belterra Agroflorestas, and Guay\u00ed Ventures)<\/em> funds native seedling nurseries in Brazil to deliver financial stability through guarantees and long-term purchase agreements. Solid investment flows fortify large-scale forest restoration and sustainable farming practices.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tropical Resilience Fund<\/strong><\/a> (Impact Earth)<\/em> invests in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. The Fund will focus on improving food security, enhancing landscape resilience, and providing financial assistance to partner groups.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
