Of these, 50 have attracted financial support, reflecting a 57% mobilization rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Lab\u2019s unique&nbsp;expertise&nbsp;lies in creating practical pathways to scale climate finance, and in showing how capital can move more effectively. Its portfolio spans sectors including energy&nbsp;transition and&nbsp;access,&nbsp;sustainable agriculture &amp; food systems,&nbsp;water, industry, and urban infrastructure and transport across&nbsp;emerging markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Breaking down the impact<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Lab-Impact-Sankey-5bn-2048x1337.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scaling private capital into underserved markets<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The milestone reflects increasing demand for locally grounded, investment-ready financial solutions that can mobilize private capital, manage rising climate risks, and still deliver market-rate returns.&nbsp;Several Lab-backed vehicles&nbsp;demonstrate&nbsp;growing investor appetite for climate-focused investment opportunities in emerging markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/catalyst-fund\/\"><strong>Catalyst Fund<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;pairs pre-seed capital with hands-on venture-building support for African climate-tech startups. The fund helps early-stage companies develop and scale solutions that strengthen climate resilience and accelerate low-carbon development across the continent, with backing from impact investors, philanthropic organizations, and development finance institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/cooling-as-a-service-caas\/\"><strong>Cooling as a Service<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;supports&nbsp;efficient cooling solutions through a pay-per-service model that&nbsp;eliminates&nbsp;upfront costs for customers. The model incentivizes providers to deploy and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;high-efficiency cooling equipment while expanding access to sustainable cold chains and cooling infrastructure, including decentralized cold rooms&nbsp;benefiting&nbsp;smallholder farmers in countries such as India, Nigeria, and the Philippines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/lendable-decarbonization-fund\/\"><strong>Lendable Decarbonization Fund<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;provides&nbsp;sustainability-linked loans to small and medium enterprises implementing&nbsp;climate mitigation, sequestration, and adaptation solutions. The fund combines blended finance with technology-enabled credit assessment and impact monitoring, supporting sectors such as renewable energy, resilient agriculture, and sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/p-rec-aggregation-facility\/\"><strong>P-REC Aggregation Fund (PAF)<\/strong><\/a>supports&nbsp;solar and hydro mini-grid projects across 14 fragile countries in sub-Saharan Africa by originating, aggregating, and selling Peace Renewable Energy Certificates (P-RECs). The model channels&nbsp;financing toward renewable energy projects in underserved and conflict-affected regions while creating new revenue streams linked to verified clean energy generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/responsible-commodities-facility\/\"><strong>Responsible Commodities Facility<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;provides financial incentives for soy production on existing, cleared,&nbsp;and degraded lands in the Brazilian Cerrado, helping discourage further agricultural expansion into native ecosystems. finance solutions selected by the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance (the Lab) will enter incubation with the potential to unlock roughly USD 600M in investment for nature, agriculture, and industrial decarbonization projects across emerging markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They were selected through the Lab\u2019s annual global process, with a record 1,172 applications this cycle. Ideas were initially vetted by the Lab\u2019s regional members in Brazil, India, the Philippines, and across Africa, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific. The vote for the final winners took place last week in London, where Lab members met in person at the offices of global law firm DLA Piper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected initiatives will undergo seven months of incubation and stress testing, receiving technical support and guidance from experts within the Lab&#8217;s extensive network of public and private investors. After that, they will be eligible to receive grant funding of up to USD 250,000 to move from design to implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the things that makes the Lab special are the conversations that happen along the way. The Lab network brings together investors and experts from across the global climate finance ecosystem to ask tough questions and push the teams we support to become even stronger,\u201d said <strong>Ben Broch\u00e9, CPI US Director<\/strong>. \u201cThe solutions selected this year reflect that process: they\u2019re ambitious, but also grounded in the realities of raising and deploying capital in emerging markets.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eight new ideas will join the Lab\u2019s growing portfolio of innovative climate finance solutions. To date, the Lab has launched 87 instruments, collectively mobilizing nearly USD 4.5B in public and private investment for emerging markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe volume and quality of submissions show the determination across the climate finance ecosystem to keep developing solutions that can drive systemic change in emerging economies,\u201d said <strong>Amanda Brasil, Global Lab Manager<\/strong>. \u201cWe\u2019re excited to work with the teams over the coming months to validate the investment case, strengthen their climate thesis, and support the concepts so they can move toward implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The selected ideas span multiple regions and sectors, but share a common goal: designing financial structures that can attract private investment to climate solutions that are currently underfunded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selected Ideas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/adaptation-asia-panra-fund\/\"><strong>Adaptation Asia \u2013 Panra Fund<\/strong><\/a><em>(Adaptation Asia, Planetary X)<\/em> is a USD 50M&nbsp;agribusiness debt&nbsp;fund&nbsp;to improve the ecological health of croplands in the Philippines, using a digital platform connected to remote sensors that can measure and monetize adaptation benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/building-smes-climate-resilience\/\"><strong>Building SMEs Climate Resilience<\/strong><\/a><em> (StoneCo, Zurich)<\/em> is a combined insurance-credit mechanism using a USD 10M-20M insurance facility to unlock up to USD 200M in lending for climate-resilient SMEs in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/impaqto-capital-amazon-andes-fund\"><strong>IMPAQTO Capital Amazon Andes Fund<\/strong><\/a><em>(IMPAQTO Capital)<\/em> is a USD 30M blended finance fund mobilizing capital to develop regenerative value chains that reduce deforestation and strengthen forest livelihoods in the Andean Amazon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/insurance-backed-loans-for-csa-adoption\"><strong>Insurance Backed Loans for CSA Adoption<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;<em>(IFPRI, DVARA E-Registry)<\/em> is a USD 90M credit facility that uses satellite and smartphone data to enable insured lending for climate-smart agriculture adoption across Indian smallholder farms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/ideas\/latin-american-climate-resilient-coffee-facility\"><strong>Latin American Climate Resilient Coffee Facility (LATTE)<\/strong><\/a><em>(IDH Investment Management)<\/em> is a USD 30M blended finance facility that channels capital through agri-fintech lenders to finance climate resilience measures for small coffee producers across Colombia, Honduras, Kinom\u00e9)<\/em> is a USD 50 million blended finance fund investing in regenerative enterprises to restore ecosystems and transform land-use value chains in Madagascar and other least developed Platform<\/strong><\/a><em>(Natural Capital) <\/em>is a USD 100M impact-first platform to finance conservation and restoration projects in Southern Africa through patient, staged investment into Initiative (CPI), bekerja sama dengan Bank Indonesia (BI), meluncurkan Buku Pedoman Implementasi Model Bisnis UMKM Berkelanjutan: Aksi Mitigasi. Buku ini ditujukan sebagai acuan komprehensif bagi pelaku usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah (UMKM), lembaga keuangan, serta pemangku kepentingan lainnya dalam mendorong transformasi UMKM menuju praktik usaha yang berkelanjutan dan inklusif.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedoman ini merupakan hasil penyempurnaan dari Pedoman Pengembangan UMKM Hijau yang sebelumnya diterbitkan oleh Bank Indonesia pada tahun 2024, dengan cakupan yang diperluas agar dapat digunakan lintas sektor usaha, acuan yang lebih implementatif bagi UMKM, dan indikator yang sejalan dengan taksonomi berkelanjutan sebagai acuan penyaluran pembiayaan hijau oleh perbankan. Buku ini menyajikan klasifikasi model bisnis UMKM berkelanjutan, indikator dan metrik penilaian yang lebih aplikatif, serta kerangka <em>self-assessment<\/em> yang disesuaikan dengan kapasitas dan karakteristik UMKM di Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sebagai bagian dari kerangka <em>self-assessment <\/em>dalam pedoman ini, Bank Indonesia menyediakan formulir untuk memudahkan pelaku UMKM melakukan penilaian mandiri secara sederhana dan terstruktur. Ini mencakup pertanyaan mengenai profil usaha serta indikator utama keberlanjutan berdasarkan kriteria mitigasi perubahan iklim, prinsip <em>do no significant harm<\/em>, aspek sosial, serta keuangan dan tata kelola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasil asesmen akan menunjukan tahapan adopsi praktik usaha berkelanjutan yang telah dicapai oleh UMKM, yaitu terdiri dari UMKM <strong>Eco-Adopter<\/strong>, <strong>Eco-Entrepreneur<\/strong>, dan <strong>Eco-Innovator<\/strong>. Hadirnya pedoman ini diharapkan dapat membantu UMKM meningkatkan daya saing, memperluas akses pembiayaan berkelanjutan, serta merespons meningkatnya permintaan pasar terhadap produk dan jasa yang ramah lingkungan dan berkelanjutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gubernur Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo,<\/strong> menyampaikan bahwa Bank Indonesia telah meluncurkan \u201cPedoman Implementasi Model Bisnis UMKM Berkelanjutan: Aksi Mitigasi\u201d sebagai landasan untuk memperkuat tata kelola usaha dan mendorong aspek keberlanjutan terhadap model bisnis UMKM. Pedoman tersebut dirancang secara aplikatif dan bertahap agar pelaku usaha mampu melakukan mitigasi emisi dengan mengintegrasikan proses produksi dan operasional ke dalam prinsip-prinsip keberlanjutan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sementara, <strong>Direktur CPI Indonesia,<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatepolicyinitiative.org\/people\/tiza-mafira\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Tiza Mafira<\/strong><\/a>, menyampaikan bahwa peluncuran pedoman ini merupakan langkah strategis untuk menjembatani kebutuhan kebijakan, pembiayaan, dan praktik di lapangan. \u201cUMKM adalah tulang punggung perekonomian Indonesia, namun masih menghadapi tantangan besar dalam mengadopsi praktik berkelanjutan. Melalui pedoman ini, kami ingin menghadirkan instrumen yang praktis, relevan, dan kontekstual agar UMKM dapat memulai transisi secara bertahap, sekaligus meningkatkan akses mereka terhadap pasar dan pembiayaan berkelanjutan,\u201d ujar Tiza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perumusan dan penyusunan pedoman ini mengacu pada berbagai standar dan <em>Best Practices<\/em>\/praktik terbaik nasional maupun internasional, serta divalidasi melalui <em>Focus Group Discussion (FGD)<\/em>\/Diskusi Kelompok Terpumpun (DKT) dengan regulator, akademisi, lembaga keuangan, organisasi masyarakat sipil, dan perwakilan UMKM. Initiative (CPI), in collaboration with Bank Indonesia (BI), has officially launched the Guidebook on Implementing Sustainable MSME Business Models: Mitigation Action. The guidebook is intended to serve as a comprehensive reference for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), financial institutions, and other stakeholders in supporting the transformation of MSMEs toward sustainable and inclusive business practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guidebook is an enhanced version of the Green MSME Development Guide previously published by Bank Indonesia in 2024. Its scope has been expanded so that it can be applied across various business sectors, provide more practical guidance for MSMEs, and include indicators aligned with sustainable taxonomies commonly used as references for green financing by banks. The book presents a classification of sustainable MSME business models, more applicable indicators and assessment metrics, as well as a self-assessment framework tailored to the capacities and characteristics of MSMEs in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the sell-assessment framework, Bank Indonesia provides a form specifically designed to help MSME actors conduct simple and structured self-evaluations. The form includes questions related to business profiles and key sustainability indicators based on criteria that cover climate change mitigation, the do no significant harm principle, social aspects, and financial and governance aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The assessment results will indicate the stage of adoption of sustainable business practices achieved by MSMEs, which are categorized as <strong>Eco-Adopter<\/strong>, <strong>Eco-Entrepreneur<\/strong>, and <strong>Eco-Innovator<\/strong>. The presence of this guidebook is expected to help MSMEs improve competitiveness, expand access to sustainable financing, and respond to growing market demand for environmentally friendly and sustainable products and services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo<\/strong>, stated that Bank Indonesia has launched the Guidebook on Implementing Sustainable MSME Business Models: Mitigation Action as a foundation to strengthen business governance and encourage sustainability aspects in MSME business models. The guidebook is designed to be practical and gradual so that businesses can mitigate emissions by integrating production and operational processes into sustainability principles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>CPI Indonesia Director<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatepolicyinitiative.org\/people\/tiza-mafira\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Tiza Mafira<\/strong><\/a> emphasized that the launch of this guidebook represents a strategic step to bridge the needs of policy, financing, and on-the-ground practices. \u201cMSMEs are the backbone of Indonesia\u2019s economy, yet they still face significant challenges in adopting sustainable practices. Through this guidebook, we aim to provide a practical, relevant, and contextual instrument that enables MSMEs to begin the transition gradually while improving their access to markets and sustainable financing,\u201d said Tiza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The formulation and preparation of this guidebook incorporate various national and international standards and best practices. They were tested against Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with regulators, academics, financial institutions, civil society organizations, and MSME representatives. It is one of the four UN major office locations and hosts key international finance, trade, and development organizations such as the World Bank, UN Industrial Development Organization, and SE4All. To address this gap, Forest Action Nepal (FAN) and South Asia Institute of Advanced Studies (SIAS), supported by Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), organized an event, <strong>\u201cUnpacking and Bridging the Financial Barriers to Empower Women-Led Enterprises in Nepal\u201d. <\/strong>The event brought together representatives from banks, microfinance institutions, women entrepreneurs\u2019 groups, research institutions, and development partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers underscored that while policy intent around gender inclusion and climate action remains strong, existing approaches often consider women entrepreneurs as welfare beneficiaries rather than as economic actors with agency and growth potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Panel discussions highlighted that <strong>finance alone is insufficient<\/strong> to unlock the potential of WLEs. Participants emphasised the <strong>need for ecosystem-based solutions <\/strong>that integrate access to finance with enterprise development support, market linkages, technology access, and climate risk management. Financial institutions noted that while women borrowers often demonstrate strong repayment performance, factors like business informality, lack of collateral, and climate vulnerability constrain lending at scale. Microfinance institutions were recognised as a critical entry point for building credit history, yet clearer pathways to transition from microfinance to commercial banking are essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event also saw the launch of the report &#8211;<em>Unlocking Climate Finance for Women-Led Enterprises in Nepal: Ground-Level Insights<\/em>, which presents evidence-based findings on the social, financial, and operational constraints limiting finance flows to women-led businesses\u2014particularly in climate-sensitive sectors such as agriculture and forestry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report draws on primary insights from <strong>200 WLEs across 40 districts of Nepal<\/strong>, complemented by stakeholder consultations with financial institutions, policymakers, and enterprise support organizations. It finds that most WLEs rely heavily on personal savings, face limited asset ownership for collateral, and operate within informal market structures that restrict access to formal finance. Climate risks, social norms, and limited financial literacy further compound these challenges, especially for micro- and home-based enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report outlines a set of actionable pathways to improve climate finance delivery to WLEs. These include deploying <strong>blended finance and risk-sharing instruments<\/strong>, strengthening aggregation and value-chain financing models, improving project preparation and financial readiness at the enterprise level, and aligning gender, climate, and financial sector policies to support enterprise scale-up. Maluku<\/em><\/a><em>,\u201d<\/em> sebagai bagian dari Laporan Tematik Transisi Berkeadilan JETP. Laporan CPI ini memberikan panduan praktis dan komprehensif untuk menerapkan Standar 9 Kerangka Transisi Berkeadilan dari Kemitraan Transisi Energi Berkeadilan (JETP) tentang diversifikasi dan transformasi ekonomi di komunitas terpencil yang sedang menjalani transisi energi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studi ini berfokus pada Desa Air Buaya dan Pasir Putih di Maluku, dua lokasi yang termasuk dalam program nasional dedieselisasi Indonesia. Laporan ini menyajikan pendekatan operasional yang memastikan pengembangan energi terbarukan berjalan seiring dengan peningkatan mata pencaharian, penguatan ekonomi lokal, serta pencapaian hasil pembangunan yang inklusif. Standar 9 menekankan pentingnya ketahanan ekonomi selama proses transisi dari energi fosil. Studi CPI menunjukkan bagaimana prinsip tersebut dapat diimplementasikan melalui model yang mendukung pekerja, memperluas pemanfaatan energi untuk kegiatan produktif, dan membuka nilai ekonomi baru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Temuan-temuan utama dari laporan ini mencakup:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Komunitas di Maluku menghadapi tantangan keandalan energi dan kehilangan peluang ekonomi akibat ketergantungan pada genset diesel serta keterbatasan akses listrik yang stabil.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Di Air Buaya, terdapat 18 pekerja pembangkit diesel yang berisiko kehilangan pekerjaan, namun sebagian besar menunjukkan kesiapan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dan beralih ke peran di sektor energi terbarukan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Di Pasir Putih, kapasitas produksi es yang terbatas dan pasokan listrik yang tidak stabil menghambat produktivitas sektor perikanan tuna di desa tersebut. Mengganti tenaga diesel dengan sistem rantai dingin berbasis energi terbarukan berpotensi signifikan meningkatkan pendapatan harian nelayan aktif dari Rp 43 juta menjadi Rp 368 juta. Secara keseluruhan, total pendapatan tahunan sebesar Rp 53 miliar jauh melampaui biaya transisi sebesar Rp 10 miliar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lembaga keuangan, termasuk bank publik dan filantropi, dapat berperan katalitik melancarkan penyaluran hibah, jaminan, dan skema berbagi risiko untuk memperluas infrastruktur berbasis energi terbarukan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intervensi yang dirancang khusus untuk mengatasi isu inklusi sosial, kesenjangan gender, dan migrasi pemuda sangat penting untuk keberhasilan transisi energi berkeadilan dalam jangka panjang.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Untuk tenaga kerja di Air Buaya, laporan ini mengusulkan <em><strong>Self-Sustaining Workforce Transition Model<\/strong><\/em> dengan <em><strong>Integrated Knowledge Platform<\/strong><\/em> sebagai mekanisme terpusat jangka panjang untuk mendukung pengembangan tenaga kerja terampil dalam penerapan energi terbarukan. Platform ini akan dikelola terutama oleh PLN dengan partisipasi Independent Power Producers (IPPs) melalui perjanjian kolaborasi yang terstruktur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Laporan ini selanjutnya mengusulkan <strong>Strategi Operasionalisasi Bertahap<\/strong> yang mencakup <strong>hibah katalitik, instrumen mitigasi risiko di wilayah berisiko tinggi, serta instrumen mitigasi risiko di wilayah berisiko menengah<\/strong> dalam mengembangkan infrastruktur rantai dingin berbasis energi terbarukan di Pasir Putih. Ketiga fase ini dirancang untuk secara bertahap mentransformasi ekonomi perikanan lokal dari ketergantungan pada donor menuju keberlanjutan finansial yang berorientasi pasar. Laporan ini juga menguraikan bagaimana pemerintah daerah, mitra pembangunan, lembaga keuangan, pakar teknis, serta komunitas lokal dapat berkolaborasi untuk memastikan keberlanjutan jangka panjang.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTransisi energi Indonesia hanya akan berhasil jika memberikan keuntungan ekonomi nyata bagi masyarakat. Temuan kami di Maluku menunjukkan bahwa energi terbarukan bukan hanya solusi teknis, tetapi juga jalur menuju penguatan ekonomi lokal dan mata pencaharian yang lebih tangguh,\u201d ujar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatepolicyinitiative.org\/people\/tiza-mafira\/\"><strong>Tiza Mafira<\/strong><\/a><strong>, Direktur CPI Indonesia<\/strong>. \u201cStandar 9 menuntun kita untuk menempatkan masyarakat sebagai pusat transisi. Maluku<\/a>,\u201d as part of the JETP Just Transition Thematic Report. The report provides a practical and detailed blueprint for applying the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) Standard 9 on economic diversification and transformation in remote communities undergoing energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study focuses on Air Buaya and Pasir Putih villages in Maluku, two locations included in Indonesia\u2019s national de-dieselization program. It presents operational approaches that ensure renewable energy deployment is accompanied by improved livelihoods, stronger local economies, and inclusive development outcomes. Standard 9 emphasizes the need for economic resilience during the transition away from fossil fuels. CPI\u2019s study illustrates how the principle can be implemented through models that support workers, expand productive uses of energy, and unlock new economic value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Findings from the Report:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Communities in Maluku are facing both energy reliability challenges and missed economic opportunities due to reliance on diesel generators and limited access to stable electricity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Air Buaya, 18 diesel plant workers face job transition risks, yet most are willing to reskill for renewable energy roles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Pasir Putih, limited ice-making capacity and unreliable electricity restrict the productivity of the village\u2019s tuna fishery sector. By replacing diesel with renewable energy to power the cold chain systems, daily income for active fishers could increase significantly from IDR 43 million to IDR 368 million. The total annual revenue of IDR 53 billion outweighs the IDR 10 billion cost of the transition itself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financial institutions, including public banks and philanthropies, can play a catalytic role by deploying grants, guarantees, and risk-sharing mechanisms to scale renewable energy-powered infrastructure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tailored interventions that address social inclusion, gender gaps, and youth out-migration are essential for long-term just transition success.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For the workforce in Air Buaya, the report proposed the <strong>Self-Sustaining Workforce Transition Model<\/strong> with an <strong>Integrated Knowledge Platform<\/strong> that is designed as a centralized, long-term mechanism to support the development of skilled labors for renewable energy deployment. The platform would be administered primarily by PLN, with participation from Independent Power Producers (IPPs) through structured collaboration agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report further prescribed a <strong>Phased Operationalization Strategy<\/strong> that includes <strong>catalytic grants, derisking instruments for high-risk areas, and derisking instruments for moderate-risk areas<\/strong>, to develop renewable energy-powered cold chain infrastructure in Pasir Putih. The three phases are designed to progressively transition the local fisheries economy from donor dependence toward market-oriented financial sustainability. The report also details how local governments, development partners, financial institutions, technical experts, and local communities can collaborate to ensure long-term sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIndonesia\u2019s energy transition can only succeed if it brings real economic gains to communities. Our findings from Maluku show that renewable energy is not only a technical solution but also a pathway to stronger local economies and more resilient livelihoods,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatepolicyinitiative.org\/people\/tiza-mafira\/\"><strong>Tiza Mafira<\/strong><\/a><strong>, CPI Indonesia Director<\/strong>. \u201cStandard 9 guides us to place people at the center of the transition. Now, the best-ranked ideas, assessed against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/call-for-ideas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lab criteria<\/a>, will submit a complete application, offering additional details about their proposed concepts and allowing for a more detailed evaluation.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2026, the Lab will select and develop eight innovative finance solutions that can unlock climate investment in emerging markets. Selected ideas will receive a comprehensive support package with expert guidance, technical assistance, funder mapping, networking opportunities, and pilot implementation support.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2026 cohort will also have access to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatefinancelab.org\/pre-seed-capital-facility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pre-Seed Capital Facility<\/a> \u2013 a program offering grants of USD 150,000 to 250,000 to eligible Lab-endorsed ideas after the incubation period.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>London to host Global Selection Meeting&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lab will host the 2026 Global Selection Meeting in London in early March.
