{"id":9464,"date":"2017-10-11T15:36:16","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T15:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/climatepolicyinitiative.org\/?post_type=cpi_events&#038;p=9464"},"modified":"2022-10-16T18:53:55","modified_gmt":"2022-10-16T18:53:55","slug":"webinar-global-landscape-climate-finance-2017","status":"publish","type":"cpi_events","link":"https:\/\/www.climatepolicyinitiative.org\/id\/event\/webinar-global-landscape-climate-finance-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Webinar: Global Landscape of Climate Finance 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"CPI Webinar: Global Landscape of Climate Finance 2017\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ScO-FcqsoaA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this webinar,&nbsp;we present findings from the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/climatepolicyinitiative.org\/publication\/global-landscape-of-climate-finance-2017\/\">Global Landscape of Climate Finance 2017<\/a> report, the most comprehensive overview of global climate finance flows available, which tracks how, where, and from whom finance is flowing toward low-carbon and climate-resilient actions globally, in order to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to scale up investment.<\/p>\n<p>Some key findings discussed in the presentation include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More money than ever before, USD 410 billion annual average, was invested in low-carbon and climate-resilient actions during 2015 and 2016.<\/li>\n<li>In 2015, investment increased to $437 billion, before declining 12% to $383 billion in 2016.<\/li>\n<li>Private climate finance averaged $270 billion a year, 23% higher than the annual average during 2013\/2014.<\/li>\n<li>79% of total climate finance, annual average of $324 billion, was raised and spent in the same country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About the presenter:<\/strong>Padraig Oliver is a Senior Analyst in CPI\u2019s climate finance workstream. Since 2006, he has worked in climate policy in China and Europe. In China, he worked for Development Solutions on capacity building projects for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) before moving on to conduct research for Ecofys on post-2012 regimes in China, financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and CDM market analysis. In 2011, he joined the Climate Bonds Initiative. Work included pinpointing bond investor requirements for low-carbon projects, designing and implementing a Climate Bond Standard and Certification Scheme, publishing regular market updates for how many bonds are already used for climate solutions, and outlining policy frameworks to help grow a green bond market. At CPI, Padraig is working on the interchange between government, the private sector and capital markets in scaling up climate finance flows.
