Position Summary

CPI’s India office is hiring an Analyst to support the deliverables of the Climate, Green and Sustainable Finance workstream.

Under the supervision and guidance of senior staff, Analysts undertake robust and careful analysis, drawing on methodologies from micro and macroeconomics, public policy, regulatory economics, finance, behavioural science, risk management, statistics, law, engineering, and other academic and commercial disciplines. Analysts work in close cooperation with a range of international partners from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with CPI teams across the globe.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Includes the following and others as assigned:

  • Further work in the area of climate risk and overall risk management stream with a focus on climate change from a development lens
  • Perform rigorous quantitative and qualitative evaluations of national and international climate finance mechanisms, risk management mechanisms, and interactions between public and private actors and resources.  
  • Support the writing and editing of high-quality CPI products, including full reports, executive summaries, blogs, and presentations. Produce high-quality materials that are fit for purpose time and within budget
  • Support opportunities identified to develop and consolidate work streams and develop funding proposals under the guidance of senior management.
  • Engage clients, and advise policymakers and investors on the implications of research findings under the supervision of senior management
  • Communicate and collaborate with CPI staff working on global projects in climate finance tracking, green finance in cities, research and analytical work in the areas of sustainable/green/climate finance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in financial services, management consulting, international non-profit, or development financial institutions is mandatory.
  • Background in the Financial sector – Banking/capital markets/insurance is mandatory
  • Knowledge in Banking or capital markets or insurance regulations is mandatory
  • Experience in credit risk/market risk/operational risk is mandatory
  • Knowledge in climate finance and the financial sector actors is useful.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering or any other relevant field. A Master’s degree in finance, risk, and economics would be preferred.

  • Quantitative analysis skills
  • Advanced user of MS Office suite, in particular, Excel
  • Independent, analytical mind with a track record of applying sound financial, political and strategic judgment to complex issues
  • Flexibility, professionalism, enthusiasm for working as part of a team, and an ability to interact with a diverse array of people
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Superior English written and verbal communications skills
  • An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, if required
  • Willingness to travel domestically

Position Details

CPI is hiring for one full-time position, open immediately to be based in our New Delhi office. The CPI team is currently working in a hybrid manner.

CPI offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Compensation will be based on experience.

CPI’s India office focuses on three workstreams:

  1. Policy and Regulatory interventions to accelerate Climate Finance, Green Finance, and Sustainable Finance in India by informing regulation and policy and building on the work carried out by CPI under the Task Force for Sustainable Finance led by the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance;
  2. Financing Energy Transition including electricity transition, industrial decarbonization and transport decarbonization which focuses on recommending financing interventions to accelerate investments for a low-carbon economy; and and
  3. Enabling Capital through project preparatory facilities (PPF), technical assistance (TA) programs and risk mitigation mechanisms focusing on enabling private capital through project preparatory support, investment advisory and pipeline generation support, and designing blended finance and risk mitigation structures.

The nature of the work varies across consulting projects, research projects and program management.
